The game's packaging shows protagonist Aiden Pearce garbed in a trench coat, with a gun in one hand and a mobile device in the other.
Watch Dogs sees players take control of hacker Pearce, who has an entire city's surveillance system at his disposal and can tap into people's electronic devices to gather intel and infiltrate security systems vital to the city.
Ubisoft has said that it will include innovative social features that allow users to access other players' games using smartphones.
Earlier this week, the studio announced Watch Dogs as a PS4 launch title and said that it would also release on Wii U.
While the upcoming open-world title will be the same across all versions, senior producer Dominic Guay told Digital Spy that the PS4 pushes all aspects of the game further than current-generation machines.
Watch Dogs has been confirmed for PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, PC and Wii U, and is expected to launch sometime in 2013.
