However, it has since been reported that there is also an unannounced Assassin's Creed in development, which is likely to release on the PlayStation Vita, according to VGLeaks.

"Bet for a Vita one in 2013. We'll have to wait a little more, but this year we'll see two AC games, that's for sure," reads the VGLeaks report.

Last year's Assassin's Creed 3 was joined by PlayStation Vita spinoff Liberation, which featured female protagonist Aveline de Grandpré.

Suggesting a pirate theme that expands upon the ship-sailing mechanics from Assassin's Creed 3, pre-order posters have confirmed a Caribbean location.

It was also suggested that the main character was Edward Kenway, a privateer, assassin and pirate, and father of Haytham Kenway from Assassin's Creed 3.
