Robotoki has announced a new game called The Adventures of Dash through its Kickstarter campaign.

It will be a 2D puzzle platforming game featuring a narcoleptic boy named Dash.

When Dash falls asleep, the game shifts to his dream world, which will offer a different artistic style and gameplay mechanics for each dream.

"What always frustrated me working on Call of Duty or even our own Human Element, was that hiring any of these artists I loved meant one thing, forcing them into an art style to fit with the game universe we were working on," said Robotoki creative director Robert Bowling.

"It resulted in stripping away everything I loved about them in the first place. Their personality and personal style was lost in the universe of the game. Why should we adapt an artist to the game, when the game can adapt to the artist?"

The various dream worlds will be connected by the world when Dash is awake, which will feature its own puzzles and characters to interact with.

The Kickstarter campaign is seeking $400,000 (£264,465) to fund the game for seven months of development. Users who donate $15 (£9.91) or more will receive a DRM-free copy of the game on PC, Mac and Linux. The game is also being developed for Ouya, Android and iOS.

Robotoki is also working on the post-apocalyptic survival game Human Element. Users who donate $100 (£66.11) or more to The Adventures of Dash will get exclusive early access to the PC beta of Human Element when it is available.

Robotoki was founded by former Call of Duty developer Bowling last year.
