The executive admitted that the company is "doing some innovative stuff", but added that Sony, Nintendo, Apple and Google will remain the company's biggest rivals.

Valve recently hinted that it could have a Steam Box prototype model ready within the next "three to four months", but Mattrick believes other firms are working on products that are "richer" in scale.
"The scale of products and things that are being brought to market are probably a little bit richer when I look at Sony, Nintendo, Apple and Google," he told The Verge.

However, Mattrick was quick to praise the work of Valve co-founder Gabe Newell, who received a lifetime achievement award at last night's BAFTA Video Game Awards.
"I love Gabe," he added. "I was there for his lifetime achievement award so it's wonderful to see what they're creating."
Microsoft is expected to announce its successor to the Xbox 360 next month.
