Developer Bungie and publisher Microsoft have finally confirmed the launch date for the eagerly-awaited forthcoming release Halo 3 on the same day as the multi-player Beta becomes available.
The game will go on sale September 25 in the US and it will be released in the UK a day later, with Microsoft predicting it will break all day-one sales records from every entertainment sector.
“Halo 3 is much more than a video game release; it’s the biggest entertainment event of the year,” said Xbox head Peter Moore.
Halo 2 generated sales of $125 million in its opening 24 hours, which is on par with the opening weekend of the Spider-Man 3 movie which made $151 million in the US.
Microsoft also plans to release a Halo 3-themed digital media player, which will include videos, soundtracks, trailers, ads and artwork from the forthcoming game.
