The free-to-play strategy card game will be released on PC, Mac and iPad, and will be playable at US gaming expo PAX East next week.
Designed to be approachable to card game beginners and veterans, it's said to feature quick and lively duels.
Each player will have a card deck that is centered around one of the nine Warcraft classes, and will be joined by the hundreds of minion, spell and weapon cards that will be available at launch.
Decks can be expanded by acquiring cards through crafting or purchasing new packs.
"We've always loved collectible card games at Blizzard, so it's been exciting to bring everything we love about the genre to life in Hearthstone," said Blizzard CEO Mike Morhaime.
"We're putting a lot of focus into creating a fun new game that's easy to pick up and play, but also has a lot of depth.
"We can't wait to share it with everyone."
While no release date has been set, players can apply for a beta from the official website.
Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft will be Blizzard's first free-to-play game. It is said to also developing a 'next-gen' massively-multiplayer game to succeed World of Warcraft.
