'Terraria' announced for PlayStation Vita

By
Terraria has been announced for PlayStation Vita.

The PS Vita version will be a port of the recent console release, with the addition of touch screen controls for the handheld.

Terraria takes place in a randomly-generated side-scrolling sandbox world, and encourages players to explore and gather resources while fighting monsters and building their own structures.

Like the console release, Terraria on Vita will support online multiplayer for up to eight players in the same world, along with learderboard and Trophy support.

The console version also added new additions like an expanded map view, new armour and ultimate weapons, new enemies and pets, an expanded soundtrack and a new final boss battle. It is unknown how much of the expanded console content will be included on Vita.

Terraria first released on PC in 2011 as the first game from independent studio Re-Logic. The console and Vita ports are developed by Engine Software, with 505 Games publishing.

No release date was announced for Terraria on PS Vita. Terraria released earlier this week on Xbox Live Arcade and PS3.
