Sony showcases PS4's DualShock 4 controller - video

By
Sony has released a video showcasing its DualShock 4 controller.

Designers and engineers talk through the features of the PlayStation 4's controller in the promo.

The new features include the revamped triggers and analogue sticks, the multi-touch touchpad, speakers and the Share button.

Another feature unveiled was the function of the light bar on the controller, which allows the PS4 to track where it is in the room.

"If the system sees that for some reason we've swapped places or I've passed the controller to someone, it can automatically adjust the ordering of the split-screen so it makes sense to everyone," said Anton Mikhailov, senior software engineer at Sony Computer Entertainment America's R&D Group.

"It seems like a minor thing, but it actually really helps the flow of the game and helps the intuitiveness of the whole console."

Lead system architect Mark Cerny has promised that the launch line-up for the console will be "stronger than any prior PlayStation hardware".

The PlayStation 4 will launch globally in 2013.
