Star Wars: Battlefront has been announced by Electronic Arts.

The firm flashed a Battlefront logo during its E3 press conference in Los Angeles.

Little else is known about the title, although it will likely be developed using the Frostbite 3 Engine.

EA announced a multi-year licensing deal with Disney earlier this year.

The publisher will create new titles based on the Star Wars movies for mobile devices, consoles and PCs, while Disney has kept some rights to develop mobile and browser titles, along with social and online games.

The announcement was made after Disney issued staff cuts at LucasArts in April.

Work on previously announced games such as Star Wars 1313 and Star Wars: First Assault has since been halted.

Star Wars: Battlefront was announced alongside Mirror's Edge 2, Dragon Age: Inquisition and Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare.

Battlefield 4 gameplay footage was also shown, as well as trailers for FIFA 14, Madden NFL 25 and UFC.
