Although no formal pre-order scheme had been announced for the new add-on, the SplitFish.de website has apparently been besieged by consumers.
The FragFX is designed to bring PC-style gameplay to the PlayStation 3, making it perfect for RPGs, adventures, strategy titles such as The Sims and, according to the firm it is "ideal for experiencing the traditional PC mouse and keyboard style gameplay of shooter games in a console environment".
The device, which also doubles as a mouse for navigating PS Home and the PS3 internet browser while online, is now officially on sale in the States.
However, the unit, which is priced at around £40, will only be available in limited stock to UK gamers through the SplitFish website.
