E3: Sony unveils new PS3 'Starter Pack'
After much speculation that Sony would announce a PS3 price cut for the UK during their E3 high-profile announcement, the company instead unveiled plans for a new PS3 "high-value" bundle.

The new "Starter Pack", which goes on sale from July 18, comprises a PlayStation 3 console, two games and two Sixaxis controllers, priced at £425.

For the two bundled games, retailers will offer a 'pick and mix' of first-party titles including Formula One, Genji, Ridge Racer 7, Resistance: Fall of Man and MotorStorm.

"With sell-through of over 1.2 million units in the SCEE territories to date, PlayStation 3 has proved to be an instant and huge success," said Sony Computer European Entertainment president David Reeves.

"The exceptional value of the new Starter Pack will bring the excitement of PlayStation to gaming to a much wider audience. Add to this a stellar line-up of software titles for the second half of the year and we are confident that this amazing value Starter Pack will encourage many more keen gamers to join the PlayStation 3 community."
