Online store slashes PS3 price by £95

A leading online store has cut £95 off the price of the 60gb PlayStation 3 console, with the site now selling the standalone system for £329.99.
Online store www.shopto.com told Vgcave that it cut the price after discovering its forum members found the full retail price of £425 hard to pay.
A Shopto spokesman said: "My thoughts and our forum members' thoughts is that it is the initial cost of £425.00 that people are finding hard to pay, regardless of the extra incentives.
"We decided we want to give our consumers “a choice” and therefore chose to promote various bundles. By far the most successful campaign was the console on its own for £329.99. This give consumers the chance to then go and purchase the software and accessories at later stage when they can afford it. We have given consumers a great “leg up” on the way to becoming a PS3
console owner."
Shopto has said the cut is part of its August campaign so the PS3 may well go back up to its original price next month.
