Paramount and DreamWorks shun Blu-Ray

Despite Blu-Ray enjoying a growing dominance in the US, two Hollywood movie studios have announced they will shun Blu-Ray in a bid to exclusively support the HD-DVD format.
The first HD-DVD exclusive titles from the pair will be Blades of Glory, followed by Transformers and Shrek the Third.
"We decided to release Shrek the Third and other DreamWorks Animation titles exclusively on HD-DVD because we believe it is the best format to bring high quality home entertainment to a key segment of our audience - families," said CEO Jeffrey Katzenberg.
"I believe HD-DVD is not only the affordable high quality choice for consumers, but also the smart choice for Paramount," said CEO and chairman Brad Grey.
The announcement, which does not include any movies directed by Stephen Spielberg, will come as a bitter blow to Sony whose plan is to see every home have a PlayStation 3 with its built-in Blu-Ray disc player and a wide range of Blu-Ray movies available.
