Sony Ericsson is expected to announce a new mobile phone aimed directly at gamers during a speech at the Mobility World Congress event, a leading mobile trade publication has reported.
Running from December 4 to 7, the mobile phone event, which will be held in Hong Kong, is expected to see Sony unveil a gaming mobile phone.
According to the Mobile Entertainment report, the phone will "offer a games-oriented user interface and styling, and comprise technical innovations such as motion-sensitivity, which will pave the way for Wii-like gameplay on a handset."
Speculation was fuelled earlier in the year when Sony Ericcson's design guru Rikko Sakaguchi said he was working on a gaming concept.
The move into mobile gaming is expected to grow in the coming years, with Nokia planning its new N-Gage platform in November, offering a downloadable games service across many of its leading handsets.
