Respected Italian trade magazine Gamestore has revealed Sony is to release a cut-price 40Gb PlayStation 3 on October 10.
The new machine will be available across Italy and will retail for €399 (£275), while a starter pack, which includes two games and an extra pad, will also be released for €499.
The news comes as internet rumours suggest a cut-price 40Gb model is to be released in France and Australia, while the announcement of the Italian machine has sparked new rumours suggesting Sony will launch the 40Gb machine in the UK as it fights an uphill battle with the cheaper Xbox 360 and Wii.
