Ray Winstone to star in new game

Stars from the movie Beowulf have signed a deal to lend their voices and likeness to the official videogame, publisher Ubisoft has announced.

Academy Award-winner Anthony Hopkins, Ray Winstone, Bredan Gleeson and Sebastian Roche will all appear in the action combat release.

The game, which sees the player take control of legendary Norse warrior Beowulf, will feature exclusive content unexplored by the movie, while the roles of King Hrothgar (Anthony Hopkins), Beowulf (Ray Winstone), Wiglaf (Brendan Gleeson), and Wulfgar (Sebastien Roche) have, according to Ubisoft, "been greatly expanded and adapted to the interactive realm to deliver amazing performances that can only be found in the game".

“This is the first time I’ve worked on a video game, and I must say it was one of the hardest working days of my career," said Ray Winstone after his recording sessions for the Ubisoft title. “But it was vital to capturing the power of the film and translating that into a great gaming experience. Beowulf is a brutal character, a Dark Age-gangster with both hero and monster in him ... as a player, I can identify with the monster slayer.”

Developed by the same team that created the original Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter, Beowulf is due for release on November 9 on Xbox 360 and PC and November 23 on PlayStation 3 and Portable PlayStation, while the movie will open in cinemas across the UK on November 16.
