Miles Jacobson, managing director of Football Manager 2008 developer Sports Interactive, has said no money was spent on securing the mass media coverage its number one title has received, including a deal with soft drink Coke Zero.
The game, currently sitting at the top of the all-formats games chart, has enjoyed exemplary editorial coverage that has seen it feature prominently via various media.
Jacobson also revealed that Coke Zero is to offer their consumers a free downloadable demo of the game on special promotional packs in the next few months.
“None of it has cost us a penny, even the Coke Zero deal,” Jacobson told MCV. “We’ve been more active with PR for FM2008 than in any previous year – and we’ve been rewarded with our best ever coverage. The different media we’ve appeared in understand what Football Manager means to football fans.”
