Xbox Live to be offered free to all users

Microsoft Xbox 360 users who also own a broadband connection will soon be able to enjoy a completely free Gold access, after the firm unveiled plans for a special promotional weekend.

For the weekend beginning November 23, all Xbox 360 users with broadband will be able to log on to the full-blown Gold service free of charge.

Gold membership currently costs users £39.99 per year, which includes all the benefits of online gaming and access to all areas of the service.

Microsoft is also lining up a number of events for its promotional weekend, including competitions and exclusive downloads.
