Games to overtake music sales in '07

Games revenues will overtake the money generated by music sales by the end of the year, analyst Screen Digest has said.
As the popularity of video games continues to grow and consoles such as the Wii fly off the shelves, the games industry is expected to take over music in terms of money taken by retailers.
Games analyst at Screen Digest Ed Barton believes the trend will continue into 2008, claiming: "The UK market will keep growing as the home console market moves from the transition period into the mass adoption phase,” he told MCV.
“So the outlook for packaged games is a positive one in the short term, certainly compared to its competitors for shelf space.”
