Amazon: 'We sold 17 Wiis per second'
E-tailer Amazon has said it has enjoyed its best Christmas since it launched in 1994, attributing its success to products such as the Wii.

The firm saw customers order more than 5.4 million items during its busiest shopping day on December 10, and said its top sellers this year included the Wii console, Super Mario Galaxy, Garmin GPS and Samsung LCD high-definition televisions.

Amazon also added that, when it did have them in stock, it was selling "about 17 Nintendo Wii systems per second".

Amazon's success this year tops its 2006 performance, when its busiest day was December 11 and it sold four million items.
