'Rock Band' drum kit and guitars unveiled

Electronic Arts' forthcoming music game Rock Band will be released alongside a range of Mad Catz instrument peripherals, it has been announced.

The accessories creator has signed a multi-year licensing deal to create wired and wireless guitars, a drum kit and wired microphone to be used with Rock Band

"This agreement with MTV Games represents a natural opportunity for Mad Catz to combine our core competencies of producing and distributing high-quality accessories with the entertaining experience of Rock Band's interactive controllers," said Mad Catz president and CEO Darren Richardson.

"Mad Catz will produce premium instruments, allowing gamers and music fans to experience music in an entirely new light while taking on the personality of their favourite music idols."

Rock Band and the range of Mad Catz instruments will be released for PS2, PS3 and Xbox 360 in March.
