PSP Blu-ray could end UMD format
Published Tuesday, Jan 8 2008, 11:01 GMT | By David Gibbon

In what is seen as a major swipe at its troubled UMD (Universal Media Disc) PSP format, users will be able to attach the PSP to a PS3 via a USB cable and transfer the standard resolution version of a film onto the handheld device.
Blu-ray movies featuring specially created PSP editions will not be featured in upcoming films, but Sony says it hopes to do so within the coming year.
Should the move prove a success, Sony believes it will help further improve sales of the already successful Blu-ray format.
