High street retailer Zavvi has begun taking orders for Grand Theft Auto IV, a game many predict will be the biggest-selling title of 2008.
The chain, formely known as Virgin Megastores, is also offering those who pre-order the title a set of 'collectable' cards in a bid to win over buyers.
"These highly collectable cards will add value to our customers' experience, while giving Zavvi a point of difference over similar pre-order schemes,” said Stephen Lynn, Zavvi’s senior PR and promotions manager.
"The GTA franchise has a loyal fan base and the collectable cards will be a must have for everyone that loves the game, allowing them to keep a little bit of GTA in their wallet."
The initiative is expected to be followed by promotions from other stores as a retail war breaks out for what will be one of the most lucrative money-spinners of the year.
GTA IV is reportedly due for release in April on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
