Launch of white PlayStation 3 revealed

After enjoying success with its ceramic white PlayStation 3 console in Japan, a new report reveals Sony is now planning to launch the console elsewhere.

Originally released in Japan in November, the white PS3 features a 40Gb hard drive and one white DualShock 3 controller.

A report by GamesIndustry has found filings at the Federal Communications Commission stating that Sony is to launch the console in North America after NPD data revealed the games giant sold almost 800,000 PS3 consoles in the territory in December.

The news comes as rumours suggest Sony may consider releasing the machine into other countries where its original PlayStation 3 has been successful, including the UK and Europe.
