New 'High School Musical' game unveiled

A new game in the successful High School Musical franchise has been announced by Disney Interactive, with a release date pencilled in for April.

The latest title in the gaming series, which has seen almost four million copies sold worldwide, is entitled High School Musical: Work This Out! and is described by Disney as "an all-new musical adventure game, featuring storylines extending beyond High School Musical 2".

The game will feature all 10 songs from the movie, allowing players to listen to songs from the film on the go, as well as controlling characters Troy, Gabriella, Sharpay, Ryan, Chad and Taylor to explore the Lava Springs Resort.

“The phenomenon of High School Musical goes beyond simply watching the movies,” said Craig Relyea, senior VP at Disney Interactive.

“The success of the video game franchise proves that fans want to immerse themselves in the world of High School Musical, whether they are singing the songs or embarking on adventures with the cast.

"This new experience once again underscores Disney’s passion to provide fans with unparalleled entertainment as they wait for High School Musical 3 to arrive, which will also usher in a new generation of video games this holiday season.”
