Leading games publisher Electronic Arts has revealed it expects the PlayStation 3 to outsell the Xbox 360 in the UK and Europe this year.
However, the firm added that the Nintendo Wii will remain the next-gen leader, predicting sales could reach as high as 14 million across both North America and Europe in 2008.
PlayStation 3 will be the year's second best-seller, shifting between five to six million in the UK and Europe, with Xbox 360 expected to sell around two million units.
Despite its age, EA claims the PlayStation 2 will continue to do well in North America and Europe in 2008, with sales expected to top four million.
In the handheld sector, the games publisher believes the Nintendo DS will outsell the Portable PlayStation in both territories by two to one, shifting up to 16 million units this year.
