Japanese games publisher Konami has announced it is to release Metal Gear Solid: The Essential Collection for the PlayStation 2.
The pack, which at present has only been confirmed for release in the US, will include the original PSOne version of Metal Gear Solid, the Director's Cut of Metal Gear Solid 2 and the latest Metal Gear Solid 3.
The box set will also come bundled with artwork from Metal Gear Solid artist Yoji Shinkawa and will retail for $29.99 (around £15).
“Since its inception, the Metal Gear Solid franchise has been one of the most successful game series in the history of video games, receiving worldwide recognition and praise,” Konami’s VP of marketing Anthony Crouts said.
“Metal Gear Solid: The Essential Collection represents a great value for gamers, bringing together three must-have classic titles which pioneered the stealth action genre.”
The three-game set will be released in North America 'before the arrival of Metal Gear Solid 4 on PS3', though its release date has yet to be confirmed.
When asked about a UK release for the box set, a Konami spokesman refused to comment.
