Ubisoft is hoping to help tackle Britain's much publicised obesity crisis with the release of its latest Nintendo DS game.

My Weight Loss Coach, which is being developed by Ubisoft's Montreal Studio in collaboration with a fitness coach and nutritionist, is designed to help users "focus on taking positive steps to maintain a healthy lifestyle".

The title will allow players to create a personal profile, log their progress and track their physical activity and nutrition habits.

The game will also be bundled with a pedometer device, which connects to the DS and offers users "the best way to control your daily physical effort, challenge yourself and balance your food intake".

“My Weight Loss Coach allows us to approach casual gamers with something innovative,” said Ubisoft's Tony Key

“The game creates customized coaching sessions based on skill level, and, for the first time on DS, includes a pedometer. My Weight Loss Coach not only allows users to take control of their physical well-being, but it does so in a fun and engaging manner.”

My Weight Loss Coach is planned for a summer 2008 release.
