Created by renowned developer Bioware, Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood will be released on Nintendo DS 'before the end of the year'.
Bioware has an enviable track record in games development, creating global hits Baldur's Gate, Neverwinter Nights and 2003 Game of the Year Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic.
Signing up the Bioware game is a strategy of Japanese firm Sega to have more titles created in the West for Western audiences.
The gaming stalwart has also already opened up its UK-based Sega Racing Studio and has acquired UK teams The Creative Assembly and Sports Interactive.
