Based on the Aliens movie franchise, Aliens: Colonial Marines is a first-person shooter that will see players join the United States Colonial Marine squad in preparation for an alien assault, described as "more intense and more horrific than ever before".
The game, which is based on an original story by writers Bradley Thompson and David Weddle, is said to "retain the atmospheric look and feel of the original films while leveraging next-generation technology".
Aliens: Colonial Marines will feature a story-driven single-player mode with a squad-based combat system and an all-new four-player co-op mode, while Sega promises that more multiplayer modes will be revealed later in the year.
The game also promises to feature a wide range of weapons, from pulse rifles to flamethrowers, as well as new equipment and skills.
Aliens: Colonial Marines will be released late 2008 for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC.
