Nintendo to introduce online charges
Published Tuesday, Feb 26 2008, 12:41 GMT | By David Gibbon

The firm said it will extend the Nintendo Wii's WiFi connection with a payment-based 'Pay & Play' service.
Nintendo spokesman Takashi Aoyama said the system, which will be similar to Microsoft's online service, will see users pay for content and services using points.
Aoyama also said due to "advancements in Nintendo's online services" the firm will soon offer fee-based downloadable content for commercial games.
However, Aoyama also stressed that unlike channels such as WiiWare and WiiShop, payment for the content will feature within the game itself rather than a dashboard level channel.
