'Wacky Races' unveiled for DS and Wii

Games publisher Eidos Interactive has announced it will release a video game based on the famed Hanna-Barbera cartoon series Wacky Races this summer.

Entitled Wacky Races: Crash & Dash, Eidos describes the title as an action racing game which promises to feature all the characters and cars from the TV show, including Dick Dastardly and sidekick Muttley, Penelope Pitstop and the Ant Hill Mob.

A spokesman from Eidos said: "Players join Dick Dastardly and the gang, racing across a variety of action-packed and colorful cross-country rallies from the TV series. Racers watch out for traps and speed ahead to win the ultimate title of World’s Wackiest Racer!"

TV series Wacky Races was first shown in the US during the late 1960s. Although only seventeen episodes were ever created by Hanna-Barbera, the series became a major international success spawning many cartoon spinoffs such as The Perils of Penelope Pitstop.

Wacky Races: Crash & Dash will be available on Nintendo Wii and Nintendo DS this June.
