ChartTrack: '2008 sees game sales rocket'

ChartTrack has announced 2008 has already been a phenomenal year for the games industry, revealing sales have broken all previous records.
The industry watcher confirmed that the first three months of 2008 have been the most lucrative first quarter in the industry's UK history, after both sales and value rose to unprecedented levels.
Due to the continued success of the Wii and Xbox 360, as well as the rising star that is the PlayStation 3, retailers took £418.4 million during the year's first three months, jumping more than £100m over the same period in 2007.
Almost 18 million pieces of software were sold, representing a marked increase of over two million over the previous year.
