New instruments planned for 'Guitar Hero'

Activision's CEO Bobby Kotick has revealed that the firm plans to introduce additional instruments when it releases future editions of its bestselling Guitar Hero rock music game.

Speaking to Conde Nast Portfolio regarding future releases, Kotick said: "It's not just about guitars. We'll include a lot of other instruments, vocals."

The Activision boss also said the firm's merger with Vivendi gave it access to Universal Music Group's library, adding: "The artists' relevance and importance to 17-year-olds change in a way that you could never get in any other medium.

"40% of [Guitar Hero] users are women. The age appeal is something we've never seen before: 7-year-olds who have no idea who Aerosmith is are playing the band's music on Guitar Hero. So are 45-year-olds who spent a good portion of their lives following the band around."

Guitar Hero: Aerosmith will be released in July on PS2, PS3, Wii and Xbox 360.
