Games publisher Activision has announced new details on the next instalment from its best-selling Call of Duty series.
Speaking during a call to investors, the firm, which described the next title as "military theatre", confirmed the game will be different from the hugely successful Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare.
The publisher said the next game in the series will be released for the Xbox 360, PS3, PC, DS and, for the first time in two years, it will also be available on the PS2 and Wii.
Activision's CEO Mike Griffith said: "We'll launch on all four platforms we've participated on in fiscal 2008 [with Call Of Duty 4, [but] we'll [also] launch on the PS2 and the Wii."
Discussing Call of Duty 5, Griffith said: "We'll bring the intensity of the recent Call of Duty: Modern Warfare title to a new military theatre to engage our significantly larger user base which nearly doubled last year as new users came into the franchise."
