Ahead of Electronic Arts' Rock Band release on May 23, Konami has announced its own music game is in development, to be launched with "the most realistic drum peripheral on the market".
Rock Revolution will feature "an extensive music selection on the game disc", as well as a variety of downloadable songs available at launch for the Xbox 360 and PS3.
The game, which Konami claims will provide "an unmatched rock experience", has been designed by musicians and allows players to use the drums, as well as bass and lead guitar.
While the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions will offer a drum kit, the Wii title will allow users to utilise the Wii Remote and Nunchuk for an air-drum and air-guitar experience. The DS edition will make use of the handheld's stylus for "intense rhythm-matching sessions".
"Rock Revolution will be the most innovative and realistic rock game to hit the market, that will provide a quality drum peripheral and music that players will appreciate," said Anthony Crouts, vice president of marketing for Konami.
"As the originator of music-based games, we are dedicated to bringing fans a truly preeminent music experience. With Rock Revolution, we put the emphasis on the drum kit, delivering an experience unlike any other."
Rock Revolution will launch this autumn for the Xbox 360, PS3, Wii and DS in the US, but a UK release has yet to be confirmed.
