Cameron told Cnet: "Stereo production is the next big thing. We are born seeing in three dimensions. Most animals have two eyes and not one. There is a reason, I think."
The Aliens director has said games publisher Ubisoft, which is yet to confirm which formats the title is being developed for, is staying loyal to his fully 3-D film, creating a title that is visually "in stereo".
The 3-D science fiction film tells the story of an ex-Marine who finds himself thrust into hostilities on an alien planet filled with exotic life-forms.
The game is expected to be released alongside the movie, which is due to open in December 2009.
