Fit Reader of the Week: Calvin, Kent
Published Wednesday, Aug 12 2009, 09:33 BST | By Nick Levine | 78 comments
Say hello to 20-year-old Calvin from Kent, our latest Fit Reader of the Week.

Right, if you're quite ready to pop your eyes back in their sockets, it's time for Calvin's fascinating facts.
1. "I'm a student at Liverpool uni."
2. "I'd love to be an underwear model!"
3. "I'm currently single and looking..."
Nothing better than a Fit Reader who's "single and looking", is there? Anyway, if you fancy grabbing the baton from Calvin next week, click here for details on how to apply.

so do people like this guy or not? everyone seems to be talking about "lol" if that's the game we're playing then you might love an episode in the first season of David Duchovny's "Californication" - Episode 5, actually entilted LOL. i think you'll like what they have to say on the matter. Back to Calvin I wouldn't be surprised if he hasn't already dabbled in the modelling business. Can I say "wouldn't" or would you guys prefer "would not"? xxxxx

I have to agree. "Lol" is very annoying.

Bodyguard has a good ring to it but I keep hearing the Whitney Houston song in my head... Plus the hassle of changing names on bills etc is just not worth it really. Good suggestion though. Noted. What's wrong with laughing out loud? I sit and laugh at work all the time... I just sit there all day long laughing manically for no apparent reason... Maybe that's why I get so many odd looks

Now someone's being hauled over the coals for using lol in his comments! ("I don't belieeeve it!!") I don't imagine for one moment that every time someone uses that abbreviation they are really supposed to be "laughing out loud" - it's a convention, that's all. I don't use it myself, I usually put "ha!ha!ha!", and as far as I can see "lol" is just shorthand for that really. In spoken conversation , or even where you can see a person's face, nuances of meaning can be conveyed which are impossible when using only the written word, even though we might employ italics, bold print, exclamation marks, and so on (and now emoticons as well!). All this enriches the language, and better conveys what is being said, so lighten up folks!! (lol)

Lee,Kent - Hillarious (Not). Lols also annoy me John - Surrey. I mean honestly. Do people really sit there "Laughing Out Loud" as they type the "Lol". I don't think so. Anyway, I think Lee, Kent should change his name to the "Bodyguard".

Barriejohn, Southampton - If someone is put off posting their photo because of some people saying bitchy / negative things about them - then they are prob doing the right thing by not posting their photo. But I am sure the lads who are vain enough to continue to post photos will not care either way so I wouldn't worry. Lee, Kent - "Lol, Lol, Lol" - How annoying!!!!!

I was the one who started it all off, and if you read my comment you will see that it really referred to someone who claimed to know Calvin, and remarked that he is "as camp as a row of tents", etc. OK, he may really know him, and he might be right, but I just didn't think that such personal observations were called for, that's all; and I thought that it might put other guys, who were thinking about it, off of posting pics, if they thought that "friends" might make similar remarks about THEM. Maybe I'm wrong - who knows? BTW, Calvin - PHWOAAAAAAAR!!!!!!

I have also come across this lad (Not like that) and I have to say I also think he is quite camp. Not that it matters.

Hey Adam, soz for being on the defence so much today, just get a bit protective of my mates. lol. I only knew about him being on here, the day it was posted. Just had a curious look. I must admit, we are getting a bit heated on here. I think it's just my time of the month. lol. To the others who said about piping down though. I think I would glad my friends came to my defence, regardless of the nature of the situation, but then that could just be me. Each to their own... anyway, where is the next fit lad of the week for the next lot or arguing and bitching? lol

Calvin. Congratulations, you are the most controversial "fit reader". Your charming picture has aroused the attentions of the GaySpy posters like no other. Tomorrow's chap has a long way to go to surpass such passionate controversy.

Gosh Jake, bit of a charmer aren't you? If you read down the posts, the whole conversation was simply due to the guy being called 'brave'. I don't think anyone really cares either way why they send the pics in, it's just the way the conversation went. Oh and learn to spell.

Phil, Leeds. I don't think you need to stick up for anyone. I think you need to pipe down and just take it on the chin. If any lad needs someone to stick up for them then they shouldn't be posting photos on here. If they aint asked you to stick up for them thats even worse. I wouldn't want any of my mates kicking off on here on my behalf. I would pipe down if I were you mate. As for Calvin - Not my type AT ALL. (Before you kick off, I aint saying I am Gods gift myself I am just saying he aint my type).

I do get what you mean Lee, but I guess my point is that they can't be brave because they KNOW that this site is bitchy, it's a bit like calling the people who attend X Factor auditions brave. They should know what's going on now. I suppose what I'm trying to say is what are the guys motivations for wanting a picture of themselves to be plastered all over the internet. If it means nothing and is just a bit of fun, great, but I suspect for a fair few that isn't the case. Good on you for sticking up for him though (I wasn't having a go at him by the way, just the whole thing in general), good to have friends on your side. Anyway, we're getting far to serious about all this now, as long as there are guys willing to do it, there'll be compliments and criticism waiting for em in spades. :o)
