When you're alone and life is making you lonely, Petula Clark once advised, you can always go downtown. But what if you don't want to go downtown? What if Emma Bunton's put you off the idea for good? How will you amuse yourself then? Well, Gay Spy is here to help: read on for seven suggestions on how to keep yourself fully stimulated this week.
Monday
What’s happening? Groove Armada and Mutya Buena release 'Song 4 Mutya (Out Of Control)' on CD single and download.
Why should you care? Because this mind-invading electropop stormer is the tune of the summer.
Tuesday
What’s happening? Channel 4 reveals How Gay Sex Changed The World at 11.05pm.
Why should you care? Well, does the title alone not spell it out?
Wednesday
What’s happening? 40 Years Out - airing on Channel 4 at 11pm - examines what it's like to be gay in noughties Britain.
Why should you care? If it’s good, you can gasp: "They got it so right!" But if it’s bad, you can have a little bitch about people in TV having "no clue whatsoever".
Thursday
What’s happening? The Scissor Sisters kick off their UK tour at London's 02 Arena. Two further dates at the 02 follow (July 27, 28), before Jake Spears and co. cruise up to Manchester for three dates at the MEN Arena (30, 31, August 1).
Why should you care? The New York City hipsters are known for their lavish stage shows: previous gigs have featured ten-foot clowns, gold rubber catsuits and onstage invasions from the Jim Henson’s Creature Shop.
Friday
What’s happening? The Simpsons Movie is released.
Why should you care? Well, don't you want to know how Marge's electric blue beehive will look on the big screen?
Saturday
What’s happening? Sophie Ellis-Bextor plays London's G-A-Y nightclub.
Why should you care? The posh popstrel looks incredible at the moment. And her Trip The Light Fantastic LP is a glitter-drenched disco gem. Plus, there might just be murder on the dancefloor (ho ho ho).
Sunday
What’s happening? Dancing With The Stars - the US version of Strictly - continues on BBC One at 4pm.
Why should you care? Although there’s no Brucie and Arlene – sob! – you might spot Heather Mills showing off her foxtrot. Rumour has it that she's actually pretty nifty.
