Gay Spy picture special: Indie pin-ups

 |  By
With Morrissey, the king of indie, preparing to release his Greatest Hits album, it's time to salute the guitar-wielding demigods who've stolen our hearts in recent years. All cocksure attitude, crotch-framing jeans and raging intensity, these indie pin-ups helped us to get over the boyband era quicker than you can say "Duncan from Who?" Girls and boys, prepare to get your rocks off, get your rocks off, honey.

Preston once told us that 'Boys Will be Boys', but how's he going to prove it, eh?

Who cares if Alexa Chung bagged the lead singer? Guitarist Jamie Cook is our favourite Arctic Monkey, anyway!

Rooster were about as indie as Rachel Stevens, but we just couldn't bring ourselves to scrub Nick Atkinson from our list.

Patrick Wolf can put us in 'The Magic Position' any time he likes.

The Calling's Alex Band is the indie equivalent of Nick Carter, don't you think?

Thankfully, Razorlight's Johnny Borrell is never shy about taking his top off.

Carl Barat - once a Libertine, now a Dirty Pretty Thing - works the enigmatic look.

The original indie pin-up, but is he still the best? Well, that depends upon your fondness for gravity-defying quiffs, we suppose.
