Highlights of the session with Sky One controller James Baker:
- Channel has been undergoing a "radical change" over last nine months, moving towards a "high quality" offering.
- On the possiblity of turning Sky One into a HBO-like premium service: "That's something we're looking at as part of this change. I think if the audience values our content more and more, then in an evolving universe... you're going to set a price against that."
- Falling share blamed on declining penetration in multichannel homes (due to Freeview).
- Baker remained coy on the upcoming (re-)launches of Sky Two and Three. "At the core of it is Sky One material but we are looking to add stuff to that."
- As for DTT distribution, Sky has "no plans to put it on Freeview at all". That said, discussion of delivery through Freesat is "ongoing".
Full report to follow soon.
