1953 floods remembered by BBC LR

BBC Local Radio in East Anglia will join together this Friday evening (January 31) to remember the floods of 1953 in which over three hundred people lost their lives.
BBC Radio Norfolk, Radio Suffolk and BBC Essex will network from 19:00-22:00 for BBC East Flood Night, during which the phone lines will be opened for listeners to share memories of the floods and take part in a debate about whether such a tragedy could happen again.
BBC Essex will also be conducting other special broadcasts:
Friday January 31, 11:50-12:50 -- Live broadcast of a special service at Chelmsford Cathedral marking fifty years since the tragedy
Sunday February 2, 11:05-midday -- The Great Tide, a documentary with memories of the flood disaster
Monday February 3, 11:05-11:50 -- The Great Tide 50 Years On, a documentary examining current coastal flood defences, emergency procedures, rising sea levels, and how Holland keeps its coastline protected.
