BBC One will air the series across five days from June 30, but on the high definition channel it will be shown weekly from July 10.
Seetha Kumar, head of HD at BBC Vision, explained the scheduling in a post on the BBC Internet Blog, largely commenting on points made in the Digital Spy forums.
Sport was "the sort of thing HD is made for", Kumar said, though the corporation is working to increase the amount of content it can broadcast in the format.
