Capital Radio have appointed a leading executive at its Glasgow station as the new Head of Music for the Capital FM network.
Mark Findlay, formerly programme controller at Beat 106, joins the group following admissions made in January that the network played too much pop music, which led to the departure of Capital programming chief Jeff Smith.
Findlay will oversee the music policy for the eight Capital FM stations by ensuring that each is relevant to the local area of the station, as well as representing the network within the music industry to delegate with record companies and promoters.
Findlay will work in conjunction with 95.8 Capital FM programme controller Ric Blaxill and Capital group programme director Keith Pringle.
"I'm looking forward to working closely with the network programme controllers, cementing strong working relationships with record companies and promoters that will be beneficial to both the Capital FM Network and the UK music industry as a whole," Findlay said.
John O'Hara, Capital FM Network director of programming, is confident of the appointment: "I am confident that Mark's experience, which is grounded in radio and music programming on both sides of the mike, together with his passion and creativity will prove invaluable as we move forward."
