MacFarlane described the instalments, which will all last two minutes or less, as "animated versions of the one-frame cartoons you might see in The New Yorker, only edgier".
The series, titled Seth MacFarlane's Cavalcade of Cartoon Comedy, will be released in September.
Google will show the clips along with commercials on targeted websites that are part of its AdSense advertising network. They will also be made available on YouTube, which is owned by Google.
The multi-million-dollar deal has been hailed as a significant first for the advertising and broadcasting industries, and Kim Malone Scott, director of sales and operations for AdSense, said it had "recreated the mass media".
There are also plans to release the series on DVD or develop successful elements into conventional television or film projects.
