GCap job cuts 'could reach 200'
Published Tuesday, Jul 22 2008, 10:20 BST | By Dave West

The cuts are being made across departments including marketing, PR, production, management, legal, HR and technology following the takeover of the Capital 95.8 owner by Global Radio.
A source told Brand Republic: "The 160 figure includes those who have been made redundant and left with immediate effect and those who have been given their marching orders, but due to their packages will work for a few more months to help ensure a smooth transition when Global fully takes over."
Sources said job losses could ultimately total 200 out of the firm's 1,400 permanent and 600 freelance staff. Global has also made a smaller number of redundancies, estimated at up to 30.
A spokesman said: "GCap has taken this action as a prudent reaction to the current economic climate."
