Struggling R1 to run new ad campaign

BBC Radio 1 have announced plans to run a new advertising campaign from the new year designed to showcase the station's DJ talent.
The campaign, which will feature across BBC television and radio networks from next January, will prominently feature breakfast host Sara Cox and other leading DJs at the station who have yet to be confirmed.
However, Radio 1 is denying that the campaign is a knee-jerk reaction to the massive ratings slump which saw the station's audience slip below ten million for the first time, compounded by a drop of 433,000 listeners to the station's breakfast show.
"This campaign has been on the schedule since last April, it is not a reaction to ratings," said a Radio 1 spokesman.
