Chris Evans to host 'The One Show'
Published Sunday, Aug 24 2008, 09:08 BST | By James Welsh

BBC One controller Jay Hunt said that Evans, who has not presented a TV show on a regular basis since the short lived OFI Sunday on ITV in 2005, would cover for Adrian Chiles when he goes on holiday next year.
Hunt said Evans would do "very well" at hosting the programme, and refuted suggestions that someone with more journalistic credence would be more suitable.
"People have failed to keep up with his career," she said. "He's a very different broadcaster now if you listen to his Radio 2 show."
She added that The One Show is "a magazine show with light journalistic items... and that's absolutely something Chris can do."
