Jane Tranter speculation continues

Speculation is continuing to mount that BBC head of drama Jane Tranter will quit her role in order to accept a position overseas.
In June, sources told Digital Spy that Tranter was considering accepting a role with the US operations of BBC Worldwide, the BBC's commercial unit. At that time, a BBC spokesperson said that there were "no plans for Jane Tranter to change her role" at the corporation.
Today, The Guardian reported that US premium cable broadcaster HBO is understood to have approached her. During her tenure at the BBC, dramas including Rome have been co-produced with the Time Warner-owned cable outlet.
Concerns that Tranter would quit her pivotal role were recently addressed by BBC One controller Jay Hunt at an interview at the Edinburgh International Television Festival. Asked what would happen to her channel's drama slate were Tranter to quit, Hunt praised the executive and the team she has assembled, but added: "If Jane were to go, we would survive."
