Morgan, the lead singer of Fun Lovin' Criminals, said he was "thrilled" about joining the alternative digital station.
He said: "As a huge music lover it is a great opportunity to be able to share a massive catalogue on the radio. My mum is chuffed that I've joined the BBC as I finally have a proper job! I can't wait to get on air."
Radio 1's Dave Pearce will end his 13-year association with the station when he moves his 'Dance Anthems' show to 6 Music in October.
"I'm looking forward to bringing a celebration of club culture to the 6 Music audience and hope to bring in a new group of music fans who will discover what else 6 Music has to offer," he said.
Other changes to the weekend schedule will see Queens of Noize pair Mairead Nash and Tabitha Denholm present the Saturday 6 Mix from 9-11pm and Iyare take over the weekend breakfast slot from Natasha Desborough.
